The forerunners of Medwest believe that personal, organizational, private and government investments for enhancing, developing and nurturing the competencies of the technical people are affirming that the true wealth of every organization, every community, every society and every nation are people. These people should be prepared to become well-trained, well-educated and well-equipped    vis-à-vis their potentials and the available and upcoming opportunities in relation to their respective industry as well as for strategic positioning to the era of globalization and the knowledge based economy.  

In terms of formal education about plumbing profession, there are only four (4) countries with plumbing schools, namely: Australia, United Kingdom (UK), United States of America (USA) and just recently the Philippines opens its doors and windows of opportunities because of Medwest as the only school for modern plumbing and plastic welding in the Philippines with support from TESDA or Technical Education & Skills Development Authority as well as the key stakeholders of the various industries.

Moreover, managing water as one of the life giving and life sustaining resources of the planet earth would definitely requires appropriate technologies for water sourcing, water production, water storage, water distribution and water consumption. As to water quality and quantity management systems, the modern plumbing technology for water utilities and modern plumbing for building and housing constructions are among the fundamental requirements to insure favorable results that benefit the water consumers and other key stakeholders of the water industry.

As to reality check, any country or any community with low level of plumbing technology or still practicing the old plumbing system would be experiencing problems about the high percentage of non-revenue water (NRW) due to leaks and defective piping works and piping systems. Also aside from high percentage of NRW, the quality of water supply is threatened and possibly contaminated due to aggravating factors such as the usage of metal pipes, metal fittings and metals valves that naturally attract and produce rusts and other harmful metal elements as water contaminants.

Thus, leveraging and banking on the expertise of Engr. Lino S. Diamante, who is recognized by his colleagues as “The Father of Modern Plumbing and Plastic Welding Technology in the Philippines” because of his pioneering endeavors and investments about modern plumbing and plastic welding technology in the Philippines; and with his more than 25 years solid experiences and exposures together with the world’s leaders of complete piping works and piping systems; and advocating the zero-leak at least 50 years life of piping works and piping systems in the Philippines.

Then Medwest was founded as an innovative platform and agent of change to carryout his vision and mission for producing responsible, discipline and competent plumbers, plastic welders and technopreneurs to benefit this generation and for the next generations to come of our nation in particular and the globalized village in general. On September 28, 2004, the Securities and Exchange Commission issued the approved and registered corporate papers of Medwest.
